About Me!

July 3, 2012, I was diagnosed with Tall Cell Poorly Differentiated Papillary and Follicular Thyroid Cancer. After being misdiagnosed for over a decade, I had a complete thyroid removal (total thyroidectomy), as well as a many other nodules outside of my Thyroid that were cancerous.

Not only was I diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in 2012, I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (under active thyroid), and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis disease. After I had surgery I was put on three calcium medications due to having Hypoparathyroidism after surgery. Two tumors were on my parathyroid glands.

In order to kill the cancer I had to be on a Low Iodine Diet for 4 weeks. I completed two aggressive rounds of Radioactive Iodine treatment, which were not successful. Two months after my second round of RAI, I ended up having severe pain in my face due to severe salivary gland disease which caused me to stay in the hospital for a week because I had a severe infection. Not only do I have salivary gland disease but I ended up having so many stones in my face. All because both glands are burnt and destroyed from RAI treatment. Which means I either A: have to have radiation or B: have my salivary glands removed.

In 2013, the cancer came back but I didn’t have a surgery. I had another dose of RAI (Radioactive Iodine) to kill the remainder of cancer cells.

February 2018, I had my third recurrence. I had to have a Right Neck dissection due to pain and two cancerous masses that was found during a biopsy.

I was told I will never be ” cancer free”.

The purpose of my website is for Thyroid Cancer awareness and for me to document my personal life because I enjoy writing.
